International Day of Peace 2024, World Alzheimer’s Day 2024

This year, the theme for International Day of Peace is ‘Cultivating a Culture of Peace’.

The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

The International Day of Peace 2024 theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace,” emphasizes the importance of:

  1. Promoting values like respect, empathy, and understanding
  2. Fostering dialogue, tolerance, and non-violence
  3. Encouraging education, awareness, and community engagement
  4. Addressing conflict resolution and sustainable development

United Nations Secretary-General’s Message:

“Cultivating a culture of peace requires collective action… Let us work together to create a world where differences are celebrated, and conflicts are resolved peacefully.”

Ways to Observe:

  1. Organize peace walks, rallies, or concerts
  2. Host interfaith dialogues or cultural events
  3. Engage in community service or volunteer work
  4. Promote peace education and conflict resolution
  5. Share peace-themed art, music, or writings

World Alzheimer’s Day 2024 Theme – Time to act on dementia, Time to act on Alzheimer’s

“Time to Act on Dementia, Time to Act on Alzheimer’s”

Objective:

The theme aims to:

  1. Raise awareness about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
  2. Challenge stigma and discrimination
  3. Promote a dementia-friendly society
  4. Encourage action from individuals, organizations, and governments

Key Messages:

  1. Early detection and diagnosis matter
  2. Support research for better treatments and care
  3. Improve access to services and resources
  4. Foster inclusive communities for people with dementia

Activities:

  1. Organize awareness campaigns
  2. Host conferences, seminars, and workshops
